Chungnam National University is endowed seven billion won every year for five years as nine consortiums are selected for the government-sponsored program ‘University for Creative Korea’. The nine consortiums is the largest number in the nation and the endowment is also the largest amount in line with Chonbuk National University and Yeungnam University.
Ministry of Education and NRF (National Research Fund) announced the selection of 342 consortiums from 108 universities for the program on June 30, 2014, among which 9 consortiums are from Chungnam National University. To win the endowment, 989 consortiums from 160 universities competed.
The selected universities are supported with a total amount of about 250 billion won this year out of which 58.5 billion won is endowed to universities in Chungchung area. Chungnam National University will take a portion of 7billion won every year for five years. Ten consortiums from Chungnam National University applied for the program of which nine are selected.
In the process of selection, Chungnam National University has been chosen as an exemplary university for focusing on the interdisciplinary educational system, fostering creative human resources, and the corresponding reformation of necessary educational system.
With ten (71.4 %) out of 14 colleges and 43 (47.8 %) out of 90 departments participating in the program, Chungnam National University is expected to play a key role in providing human resources indispensable to the regional industry and social demands.
